I’ve never been one for exercise. But then I suddenly found myself old, overweight, stiff and achey. Getting out of chairs was becoming more difficult and involved those awful ‘old lady getting out of chair’ noises and some days it was a real trial to get upstairs with my hands full as I couldn’t pull myself up using the banisters. Walking any distance was uncomfortable for my back, knees, hips.
It was about this time that I started doing Pilates with Meaghan. Just doing supervised stretches was enormously beneficial. At first getting down and up from the mat involved lots of grunting and complaining and laughter. Learning how to stand properly and regulate my balance has been a great help and has almost encouraged me to get out and walk more regularly. Meaghan carefully plans each session to address my needs and I truly am noticing a difference in many aspects of my strength and mobility. I can get down and up from the floor much more easily and can now walk upstairs without holding on. I am discovering muscles I never knew I had.
Meaghan is a lovely person to work with, full of smiles and encouragement and I am grateful to her for helping me to feel much stronger and more flexible.
